Week of 1/30 - 2/3/17

Hello, hello, hello Ridgeview Panthers! Why am I so happy? Well, sometimes it is just good to be a Panther! As I watched part of the Pro Bowl, I sat thinking to myself that we have many Pro Bowlers of our own. In the midst of chaos, we just have an awesome community made up of caring parents and teachers and students. I hear it all the time from others, but stories of random acts of kindness touch the soul. This past week we had another enrichment day. What an amazing experience as I walked from session to session to see what kids were learning. Be sure to ask your student what they enjoyed about the day. Keep up the good work Ridgeview!

RMS Spirit Night - Tuesday, 1/31 at Zaxby's Join us at Zaxby's. A portion of proceeds will go back to Ridgeview. Spirit Night will be at Zaxby's at the corner of Gattis and Redbud Lane from 4:00 - 9:00. Be sure and tell the cashier that you are supporting Ridgeview!

Week of 1/23 - 1/27/17

Hello Panthers! I hope you had an excellent weekend and didn’t blow away with the crazy wind that we had with the front. This past week was one of my favorite times of the year, because I was able to visit each of our three feeder elementary schools and visit with parents about Ridgeview. We also hosted a parent night last Tuesday that was well attended despite the rain. I can’t wait to meet all of our incoming 6th graders and welcome them to the Ridgeview family! Lots of links this week, sorry about that.

8th Grade Parents - Read This! This week we have a couple of events just for 8th graders. First, on Monday afternoon, 8th grade students will hear a presentation about Early College High School. For students that are interested after the presentation, there will be applications and follow-up meetings for parents to attend and learn more about the school. You can visit the Early College High School website at https://earlycollege.roundrockisd.org/about/

On Wednesday, Cedar Ridge will be …

Week of 1/17- 1/20/17

Hey Panthers! I hope you had an amazing weekend! Things start getting really busy around this time with transition information and choice sheets. Make sure you stay in the loop. I will try to update everything I can as soon as I can. Other than things happening for the 5th to 6th grade transition, it is actually a pretty quiet week. Enjoy the peace while you can.
5th to 6th grade Transition We will be having a parent information session at 6:00 on Tuesday, 1/17/17 in the Ridgeview large gym. If you have a student making the transition I encourage you to attend.
Sign-Up for Enrichment Sessions 8th graders should be signing up for Cedar Ridge Academy Sessions already. If they have not signed up, they need to do so this week. We will also have sign-ups for Enrichment sessions starting on Weds afternoon at 3:30. The preview will be available for students tomorrow and they will receive an email with a link to the website to see the sessions offered. Computers will be available after school, but…

Week of 01/07-01/11/17

Hello Panthers! It’s cold outside! I am sure that was a popular refrain over the weekend. Not quite Chicago cold, but definitely cold enough to layer up when going outside. I want to remind you on days where it is cold or rainy and we have more car riders than normal, it is important to be patient. We are going to take care of your student, but we need them here safely in order to do that. Over the past week, I have had phone calls or emails about unsafe drop-offs, including behind the school on Rusk Road where cars are making U-Turns. This is completely unsafe! Also, do not drop your student off on Via Sonoma while you are waiting in line. Do not drive into the bus lanes between 7:45 - 8:15 or 3:20 - 3:45. These are busy times for busses entering and exiting. We also have an increase in parents talking on the phone while they are in a school zone. This is not only unsafe, but also illegal. I know that traffic is not ideal and the district has said that they will work with us on altern…

Week of 1/3/17 - 1/6/17

Welcome back Panthers! I hope you had a great break and were able to spend time with family. This will be a short week, but might feel like a long week as we get back into the swing of things. Things will pick up quickly as the second semester gets underway. By the end of the month it will be time to start planning for the next year and looking at choice sheets. All information sessions will be posted over the course of the next two weeks on separate pages on Blogger. This is also a good time to hunker down on organization strategies and focus on academics. The first semester is over, but second semester is a great time to set new goals to finish out the school year.
Make it a great week Ridgeview! The choice is yours!
