Week of 4/25-4/29/16

Hello Panthers! I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the sunshine! It was nice to be able to get outside after being kept indoors much of the past week from the rain.

Safety Parents please remember to be cautious as you pick up and drop off students in our parking lots. Please do not drop students off on Via Sonoma as you approach the stop sign. Please do not speed through the lines or the school zone because you are in a hurry. Everyone wants to be somewhere. The key is getting to that destination safely. No one wants an accident in the parking lot or in front of the school. In regards to making the car rider line go faster, please pull up to pick up and drop off. Several more cars at a time will greatly increase the speed of the line.
Book Drive The book strive is coming to a close. Thank you Ridgeview for your donations as we seek to stock our summer Pop-Up Library for the district. The Book Drive is ending Tuesday, April 26, 2016.  Our students have done a great job of sharing bo…

Week of 4/18-4/22/16

Hello Panthers! I hope you had a great weekend! Rain, rain, go away, come back again in June or July or August when we have those triple digit consecutive days and need some relief! Funny how history repeats itself. It was almost a year ago that we had flooding. Hopefully the rain will let up enough to dry out so that it does not lead to flooding.

Moving Forward We ended last week with a little fun for the kids as we had AudioBody perform an assembly. From what I hear from the kids, it was a good way to end the week. Now we start the grind. Typically we would be testing, but the state generously pushed back testing until the second week in May. This makes perfect sense to expose the students to more content before testing. Previously, students were still learning/mastering concepts after the STAAR test. That didn’t make much sense. I feel that our students will be well prepared this year and we are pushing students past simply passing. We want our students to achieve Level 3 - Advanced …

Week of 4/11-4/15/16

Hello Panthers! I hope you had an eventful weekend! Goofy weather we had on Saturday! I was glad that it held off raining until after lunch. There are a few things to highlight this week. Make sure you are checking in on the “Other News to Know” tab as well.
Day of Service - Campus Beautification We are were able to put together a successful morning of service and campus beautification Saturday morning! I was so excited to see staff, students, and parents working side by side, hand in hand to brighten the school! Stop by the front of the school and you will notice the difference as we added raised flower beds in the front and two butterfly gardens on the side. We were also able to trim trees, put out mulch and touch up the corner in the car rider exit. We are already making plans for a second round of service after seeing how well the morning went. Thanks to all who came out and supported and a special thank you to PTA president Mrs. Strode and staff members Ms. Yake and Ms. Troxler for …

Week of 4/4/16 - 4/8/16

Hello Panthers! What a marvelous weekend! The weather was absolutely perfect for getting outside! I hope you were able to spend a little quality time with the family. I just have one question. How in the world to you get oak pollen off the ground? I tried raking and mowing and it got most of it, but that stuff is just messy! I hope the blooms are almost done. I don’t know about you, but oak allergies seem to be hitting people harder this year. I have seen students and teachers alike suffering over the past three weeks with itchy eyes, throats, asthma, coughs, headaches, some even felt feverish. Hopefully the wind and rain knocked it out and we will be able to breathe again outdoors as we enter and exit our non-yellow vehicles.

Band Honors Our RMS Band competed over the weekend and took top honors AGAIN! This is the second year in a row that they have earned Division 1 rankings competing at the highest level for middle school UIL. Congrats band!
